Comics Elite – a no shirt required comic auction site

My friends at work keep me in comic books. I’ve tried several times to escape but to no avail. The latest group I’ve encountered has been the most productive as far as comic collectibles. Comics Elite started with a Facebook group run by Shawn Hudachko and has grown into something all its own.

Review: Doctor Strange

Review: Doctor Strange

The mighty Marvel movie-making machine mystifies the masses.  The latest offering introduces the uninitiated to the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange.  Maybe not as well known as some other Marvel heroes, the world in which the good doctor operates is one of the best suited for the big screen.

Blast From The Past

Blast From The Past

old-toys

A lot of us who fall into the “middle aged” demographic had a lot of cool toys to play with as children; boys and girls alike.  For some of these toy lines, they are still alive and well in the market and have maintained current.  There are others who are working on a resurgence of sorts in other forms of media.

Moana – Go See It!

Moana – Go See It!

moana

As a father of two younger children, there are very few things animated we miss on the big screen.  So of course when then next thing from the all-powerful Mouse came out, it was off to the theater we went.  Now it’s been a long time since we were bored by anything animated from Disney, so we expected to be entertained and Moana did not disappoint.

Replaying the classics part 1 – “The Adventures of Willy Beamish”

Replaying the classics part 1 – “The Adventures of Willy Beamish”

I always loved graphical adventure games like “King’s Quest” and “Leisure Suit Larry.”  With the global adoption of the mouse, the old style graphical adventures gave way to the “Point and Click” adventure games like “Myst”, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”, and one of my all-time favorites “The Adventures of Willy Beamish” (Dynamix, 1993.)  I spent hours getting this trouble-prone kid through his quest to get enough money to enter the annual Nintari championship.  Now with my shiny new FPGA computer (the Mist from Lotharek) I have a fully functional Amiga at my disposal with plenty of old games to keep me busy.  The first of my old friends I decided to revisit was my good buddy Willy.

What if antibiotics stopped working?  What if the human race became resistant and something as simple as a paper cut or a pin prick could ultimately kill you?  That’s the premise behind the new Image title Surgeon X by writer/creator Sara Kenney.

Ghostbusters (2016) Review, or I Ain’t Afraid of No Reboot

Today the DVD and Blu-ray for the 2016 version of Ghostbusters was released.  I was concerned about how I’d like the movie since I loved the originals so much that I still quote them daily.  In fact I was so concerned that I completely skipped seeing it in theaters and waited for the DVD release.  I can say now that a number of my fears were unfounded and it was worth watching, but I still had some issues with the movie.

Review: Warcraft on Blu Ray/DVD

Review: Warcraft on Blu Ray/DVD

warcraftHaving been a World of Warcraft (WoW) player for a few years, I was skeptical of watching this movie. I have very fond memories of my time on this MMO that Blizzard puts out and didn’t want anything to tarnish it. I especially didn’t want a poor venture to just grab more money to change my outlook on WoW.

I was wrong to be skeptical. The movie was very entertaining.

Favorite Sons Ride Again

For fans of the show, the wait between seasons was brutal.  As the season aired, the wait between episodes was tough.  And then…it ended.  No more new episodes.  While there’s been talk of spin-offs and feature films, nothing’s come to fruition yet and we’re left with a void.  That is, unless you like comic books.
