The roller coaster ride that has been season one of Fox’s The Exorcist has come to a satisfying conclusion.  There have been several twists and turns along the way, some that we could see from a mile away and others that were glorious surprises.  Be warned – “Here there be spoilers.”  If you haven’t watched it, and you’re bothering to read this, GO WATCH IT.

Moana – Go See It!

Moana – Go See It!

As a father of two younger children, there are very few things animated we miss on the big screen.  So of course when then next thing from the all-powerful Mouse came out, it was off to the theater we went.  Now it’s been a long time since we were bored by anything animated from Disney, so we expected to be entertained and Moana did not disappoint.

What if antibiotics stopped working?  What if the human race became resistant and something as simple as a paper cut or a pin prick could ultimately kill you?  That’s the premise behind the new Image title Surgeon X by writer/creator Sara Kenney.

Ghostbusters (2016) Review, or I Ain’t Afraid of No Reboot

Ghostbusters (2016) Review, or I Ain’t Afraid of No Reboot

Today the DVD and Blu-ray for the 2016 version of Ghostbusters was released.  I was concerned about how I’d like the movie since I loved the originals so much that I still quote them daily.  In fact I was so concerned that I completely skipped seeing it in theaters and waited for the DVD release.  I can say now that a number of my fears were unfounded and it was worth watching, but I still had some issues with the movie.

Review: Warcraft on Blu Ray/DVD

Review: Warcraft on Blu Ray/DVD

warcraftHaving been a World of Warcraft (WoW) player for a few years, I was skeptical of watching this movie. I have very fond memories of my time on this MMO that Blizzard puts out and didn’t want anything to tarnish it. I especially didn’t want a poor venture to just grab more money to change my outlook on WoW.

I was wrong to be skeptical. The movie was very entertaining.

Favorite Sons Ride Again

Favorite Sons Ride Again

For fans of the show, the wait between seasons was brutal.  As the season aired, the wait between episodes was tough.  And then…it ended.  No more new episodes.  While there’s been talk of spin-offs and feature films, nothing’s come to fruition yet and we’re left with a void.  That is, unless you like comic books.

After watching episode two of “The Exorcist” Friday night, I’m happy to say that the creepiness from the end of episode one was maintained.  I will also say that I have some concerns but it’s early enough in the series that I could be reading the signs incorrectly.  I already misdiagnosed Henry’s condition (see my review of episode 1), as Father Tomas mentions in this episode that Henry is recovering from a brain injury.

The Exorcist (Fox TV Series) Review – Episode 1 – “Chapter One: And Let My Cry Come Unto Thee”

The Exorcist (Fox TV Series) Review – Episode 1 – “Chapter One: And Let My Cry Come Unto Thee”

I love horror movies.  More than any other horror movie ever made, “The Exorcist” always scared the Shkreli (yes, that’s what he is) out of me.  I think it’s because a Christian upbringing has taught me that this type of horror can absolutely happen.  I could easily become that poor soul strapped to the bed and projecting pea soup at my undeserving family.

For the most part I don’t love horror TV shows.  I’ve managed to lose interest in every season, every iteration, of “American Horror Story.”  I love “The Walking Dead”, but that love is based on the feeling of dread born of their situation rather than any horror tropes that serve as the group’s point of conflict.  Premium channels aside, most horror shows just can’t compete with their movie cousins.

Now Fox has developed a TV series adaptation of “The Exorcist.”  After seeing the preview I was excited to see the show.  It appeared to have all of the elements that would make up a worthy tribute to the undisputed masterpiece that was the movie.

Lethal Weapon (Fox TV Series) Review – Episode 1 – Pilot

Lethal Weapon (Fox TV Series) Review – Episode 1 – Pilot

I’m always intrigued by a new TV show based on a 70s or 80s property (stay tuned for my review of the Exorcist pilot.)  Sure, the intrigue has turned to hatred over mishandled properties like the “Knight Rider” reboot and the <shudder> “Smokey and the Bandit” TV series </shudder>, but I always stay hopeful that they’re going to do justice to the source material.  Some, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, are even better than the movie they’re based on.  After watching the previews and seeing that none other than Homey D. Clown was playing Sergeant Roger Murtaugh, I couldn’t stay away.

Along the way storks decide to get out of the business of delivering babies and more into delivering merchandise.  A young orphaned girl working with the storks accidentally starts the process of baby delivery again.
